(2) The museum is open to visitors during the published opening hours. The building can also be opened for events. For safety reasons, visitors are not otherwise permitted to be in the building without good reason.

3 Terms of use

(1) All persons in the building must behave in a mutually respectful and considerate manner.

(2) The regulations on protection against infection, published separately, are part of these House Rules and must be observed accordingly.

(3) Touching works of art and display cases is prohibited. Please keep a distance of at least 50 cm from the exhibits.

(4) Animals are not permitted (except guide dogs for the blind or assistance dogs). Other dogs must be kept on a lead in the place provided for that purpose in front of the building. The use of bicycles, scooters, Segways and the like is not permitted, with the exception of aids for people with disabilities. Heavy overclothing and bulky items such as rucksacks, umbrellas, walking poles, sports equipment, suitcases and larger bags (larger than A4) may not be taken into the exhibitions, but must instead be stowed in lockers. Clothing may not be carried over the arm through the museums. In case of doubt, the supervisory staff will decide.

(5) When entering the building, it is prohibited to carry private weapons or other objects, substances or materials that could lead to the injury or endangerment of persons, or to the damage or endangerment of property. For security reasons, the contents of bags as well as equipment and clothing carried for medical reasons may be checked and labelled by security staff or other authorised persons on an ad hoc basis.

(6) All premises, including their inventory, must be treated with care. Works of art, equipment and furnishings are the property of the City of Chemnitz and may not be removed. Waste must be disposed of in the containers provided for this purpose.

Alcohol may only be consumed in the museum cafés and during museum events. The use of candles and other open fires is also not permitted.

(8) Generally, photographs and videos may be taken in the exhibition rooms of the museums for private, non-commercial use. Where this is not permitted, the objects are labelled accordingly. The use of flash, tripods and selfie sticks is prohibited in the museums. A minimum distance of 50 cm from the works must be maintained. This authorisation does not apply for rights of third parties.

(9) The expression and dissemination of anti-constitutional content is prohibited in the museum.

4 Young visitors

We are particularly pleased to welcome our youngest visitors and ask the person accompanying them to ensure that they do not jeopardise the safety of the exhibits and show consideration for other visitors. Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Running around and boisterous play are not allowed. For safety reasons, we reserve the right to regulate access with pushchairs.

5 Fire protection and alarms

If the siren or bell sounds continuously or a request is made via the in-house call system, all visitors must leave the museum/building immediately. If this happens, no items can be collected from the cloakroom. The lift must not be used in the event of a fire. The escape and rescue routes in the building are signposted accordingly. Visitors must always follow the instructions of the security staff and fire protection assistants until the fire brigade arrives.

6 Lost property

Please hand lost property in at the museum ticket office.

7 Domiciliary rights

(1) The domiciliary rights include the authority to take reasonable measures to maintain order and security in the museum/building in order to ensure proper operation of the museum. This includes the right to expel and ban people from the premises.

(2) The Mayor is the holder of the domiciliary rights. The exercise of domiciliary rights may be transferred to other persons. The General Directorate of Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz and its authorised employees and security staff are authorised to exercise and enforce domiciliary rights.

(3) In the event of a breach of these domiciliary rights, the person authorised to exercise and enforce them may issue a written ban from the premises and hold the perpetrator liable for any damage caused.

(4) If a violation of the domiciliary rights is detected and the person authorised to exercise and enforce them cannot be contacted immediately or without considerable delay, any municipal employee and the security staff have the right to expel the offender from the museum/building immediately and without reimbursement of the admission charge.

(5) Threats or the use of violence, insults, anti-constitutional and denigrating statements of any kind will be reported to the police.
